  Morning Sentinel March 20, 2011 UNITY - Our mother, Margaret Haskell Jones, made her journey home to be with her husband and son on Saturday, March 19, 2011, as she passed away at home with her family by her side. She was born on Dec. 22, 1939, in Unity, the daughter of the late Wellman and Lucy (Fuller) Haskell. She lived her childhood on the family farm in Palermo. Margaret attended elementary school in Palermo and was a 1958 graduate of Erskine Academy. On June 21, 1958, she married her husband, Paul, and together they raised six wonderful children. They shared 43 hard-working years together until his passing in 2001. They lived in Palermo and Washington before settling in Unity in 1972. She had been employed for the past 36 years as a cook for MSAD 3. She absolutely loved her job. She was a nanny to most of the students that she fed. Margaret's door was always open for anyone who needed a place to lay their heads for a night, month or for some, even years. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her son Michael in 2005; and her brothers: Kate, Jack, Joe and Bill Haskell, all of Palermo. Surviving are her sons: Paul and wife Diane of Knox, Allen and wife Alice of Unity, and Dennis and wife Cindy of Unity; her two very special daughters: Melanie Waterman and husband Blake of Burnham and Valerie Tweedie and husband Barry of Thorndike; her one brother, Stephen Haskell of Palermo; her two very special sisters: Pearl Hamelton of Albion and Rosalie Rood of Albion; 12 grandchildren: Craig and wife Angela, Christopher and wife Michelle, Dereck, Elaine, Amy and husband Mike, Adam and wife Alison, Alissa, Keith and wife Jenny, Casey, Blake Michael, Katie, and Bryan; 10 great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Marissa, Collin, Kaylee, Allyee, Rylee, Alexa, Mikala, and the newest additions, 3-week-old twins Kristyn Margaret and Kelsey Michael. Margaret is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jim Jones and wife Linda of Palermo; sisters-in-law: Sharon Jones and Joan Haskell; daughter-in-law, Lori Jones; her niece, Tammy Shaw of Unity who was more like a daughter to her; and her best friend and niece, Mary Haskell of Palermo.
