  The Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT) May 17, 2001 Obituary: Mary Maurine Kartchner Our beloved mother passed away May 14, 2001 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, and now she is whole again. Born June 11, 1917, she was 83. She was a beautiful person, both inside and out, and she always looked for the best in others. She was a gifted teacher, and she taught much more than the core subjects: she taught us how to be better people. She held a Master's Degree in Special Education, and was a member of the LDS church. Mary is survived by children: Judy Curtis, Dan Kartchner, Mary Anne Chacon, Nick Kartchner, Bruce Kartchner, David Kartchner, Lucinda Larsen, and their families, and many grandchildren and great-grand-children, all of whom will miss her very much.
