Michael Brooks Palmer, passed away at his home in Pleasant Grove, Utah, on December 18, 1999, at the age of 51. He fought a short but valiant battle with cancer. Although it defeated him, he was able to look back and see the blessings he received during his life.
He was born May 1, 1948, in Tacoma, Washington, to Dwight Hazen and Colleen Anderson Palmer. He lived in several places as he was growing up including Fillmore, Utah, and Ashton, Idaho, where he graduated from North Fremont High School.
Throughout his high school years, he worked in the woods cutting fence poles for his father. After graduation, he served as a missionary for the LDS Church in the Great Lakes Mission. Upon returning from his mission, he attended BYU.
He married Rebecca Monson on November 18, 1972, in the Manti LDS Temple. Together they moved to Montana and lived in Kalispell for 12 years before returning to Pleasant Grove. Mike was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held many positions.
His greatest love was his family and then snow mobiling. He loved to joke with others and make them feel welcome. His favorite story was the time he caught an elk and tied it to a tree with a logging chain. He enjoyed life! He lived and died with integrity and dignity.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of Pleasant Grove; three daughters, Michele (Jeremy) Sudweeks and Juliene Palmer of Pleasant Grove, and Elena (Curtis) Wittwer of Mesquite, Nevada; a granddaughter, Brooke Sudweeks; a daughter by a previous marriage, Andrea L. Palmer of Adrian, Michigan; two sisters, Carolyn (Don) Marotz of Ashton, Idaho, and Diane (Richard) Dastrup of Leamington, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Sharon.
