  The Salt Lake Tribune (UT) July 3, 2011 Carolyn Hoggard McKean passed away June 26, 2011 in Bountiful Utah, after a difficult struggle with cancer. She was born December 19, 1947 in American Fork, Utah to Phil Proctor Hoggard and Bernice Monson and was the eldest of five children. She grew up in Renton, Washington, a time in her life she held dear. Carolyn served in the Indiana Michigan LDS Mission in 1969. She earned a bachelor's degree in education at BYU then taught in Brownsville, Texas and East Carbon, Utah, where she met her husband, Joseph Jed McKean. They were married in August of 1977 in the Provo Temple, and had one child, Annette McKean Pennycuff. Carolyn spent her life devoted to her family, always putting others first. She has an incredibly sweet spirit, full of thoughtfulness and love.
