Pearl M. Whisman, 90, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 21, 1999, in the Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center following a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 26, 10:30 a.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with Rev. Ray Kruger officiating. Burial followed in Grand Meadow Cemetery, rural Washta.
Mrs. Whisman was born February 12, 1908, in Grand Meadow township, Cherokee Co., Iowa, to Owen and Maggie (Whitmer) Ballard. She attended Grand Meadow country school and graduated from Washta High School in 1927.
She married Floyd Whisman June 19, 1927, at Washta, Iowa. She and her husband farmed near Kingsley for 22 years and then moved to Minnesota and lived on farms near Parkers Prairie, Verndale, Wadena and Bertha, Minnesota for 22 years. They retired in 1971 and moved back to Kingsley. She had been a resident of the Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center since October 1997. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her brother, Lloyd Ballard of Cherokee and his family, and a very dear friend, Betty Lindgren of Kingsley, Iowa.
