FORT WORTH -- Carroll Morgan Showen, a retired printer for Quinn Printing Co., died Monday, July 28, 2008, of natural causes. He was 99.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Handley United Methodist Church. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: private. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Agape School, in care of Handley United Methodist Church, 2929 Forest Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76112.
Carroll Showen was born in Martha, Okla., on Sept. 23, 1908, and moved to Fort Worth in 1951. He was employed by the All Church Press, then Crosby Typographers and worked several years for Quinn Printing Co. until his retirement. He was a member of the Fort Worth Typographical Union.
He was very active in the American Association of Retired Persons, Tarrant County Alliance and Handley United Methodist Church and was very busy with other senior citizen groups.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Vina Showen.
Survivors: He leaves behind a son, Glenn Showen and his wife, Margie, of Fort Worth; daughter, Nellie Switzer and her husband, John, of Kingwood; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
