RAMONA, Calif. - Dorothy E. (Ginter) Bowlby died Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Ramona. She was the youngest and last surviving child of James and Lulu (Ballard) Ginter, early settlers in the Marcus, Meade County area.
Dorothy was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Faith, S.D. She married Carl Bowlby in 1946 and they moved to California in the early 1950s, when Carl became a career officer in the submarine service of the U.S. Navy. Dorothy was active in church and school activities and a devoted member of the Gideon Ministry.
She is survived by her husband, Carl; her son, Richard; daughters, Wanda and Carla; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of southern California. She is survived by numerous other relatives including John C. Quinn of Rapid City and James F. Quinn of New York City, the sons of her eldest sister, Jennie (Ginter) Quinn, who died in 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and one brother.
