HASKILL, Doris Maria, 92, of Nampa, ID passed away Thursday, July 30, 2011, at St Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Grand Blanc, MI. Arrangements in Idaho were provided by the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300.
Doris was born July 24, 1919 in Flint, MI, to Franz Oscar Gustafson and Hilda Wilhelmina (Sandstrom) Gustafson. She married Lyle LeRoy Haskill in December 1941. They soon moved to Grand Blanc, MI, where they spent their next 58 years until moving to spend time with his son, Lee, daughter-in-law, Heather, and grandson Lyle, in Nampa, ID.
Growing up, she developed lifelong friendships with her three greatest friends, Veronica (Duhan) Graves, Myra (Coby) Miller, and Frieda Hollowell. What a joy it must be to have them all together again! Doris enjoyed her time as den mother, tee ball coach, nurse, chauffeur, and full time homemaker to our busy family. She loved crafts, specializing in hats, lamps, upholstery, and Christmas decorations. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Grand Blanc. She was a member of the VASA Order of America, Viking Lodge #730, in Flint, MI. She enjoyed her many years living at Vasa Country Club, in Lapeer, MI, encouraging the family to learn and value the Swedish traditions she enjoyed during her young life.
Doris is survived by her son, Lee (Heather) Haskill of Nampa, ID, daughter Maria (Troy) Sebring of Park Hill, MO, along with six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Hilda Gustafson, brother Gerald, and sister Eleanora (James) Widmark.
