ARGENTA - Walter F. King, 81, of Argenta died 6:35 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 6, 2002) in his home.
Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, with military rites
Mr. King was born Nov. 26, 1920, in Fredericksburg, Ind., the son of Floyd E. and Frances M. Jones King. He was affiliated with Argenta United Methodist Church and was a World War II Army veteran. He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 29 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Caterpillar Retirement Club, UAW Retirement Club and Prairie River Historical Society, Argenta. He married Donna M. Haskell on Aug. 10, 1947, in Oreana.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Denise L. Lanter of Argenta; son, Mark W. (Mary Lou) King of Decatur; grandchildren, Joshua Lanter of Argenta; Sarah (Rob) Lowers of Fort Bragg, N.C.; Rebecca Lanter of Vero Beach, Fla.; Carrie (Bill) McKinley of McMinnville, Tenn.; Andrea Patterson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; stepgrandchildren, Christina (Shannon) Allen of Decatur; Gary Hopkins Jr. of Decatur; three great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
He was a quiet man, much loved and will be missed by all.
