Marilyn Mae (Stevens) Schofield, 84, was born and raised in Nashua, and once she married moved to Merrimack where she raised her own family. After 40 years in Merrimack, Marilyn recently moved to Barrington to live with some of her family. Marilyn passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, April 19, 2022, at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover.
Born in Nashua on November 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Mervin E. and Evelyn Mae (Haskell) Stevens. Marilyn was the widow of Ralph J. "Buddy" Schofield, who passed away on February 15, 1997. They had shared 40 years together.
Members of her family include six children and their spouses, Mark and Gloria Schofield of Merrimack, Cindi Cookinham of Brewer, ME, Michael and Darlene Schofield and Matthew and Karen Schofield all of Merrimack, Todd Schofield of New Ipswich, and Judd Schofield-Savo and David Schofield-Savo of Barrington; her adopted daughter, Debra Ryan and her husband Dan of Merrimack; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mervin E. Stevens Jr. of Walpole, NH and David A. Stevens of Georgia; a sister, Barbara J. Katsiaficas of Nashua; closest friends Meredith Carter of Manchester, and Charlotte Davis of Nashua, also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn was also predeceased by her brothers, Donald W. Stevens and Henry Stevens, and her sister, Carol L. Berry.
Educated in local schools, Marilyn attended Nashua High School and later was a proud graduate of the Merrimack Police Citizen Academy. Marilyn was known for her quick wit, positive outlook on life, and mantra of 'Keep Smiling'. Marilyn was a wonderful positive role model for her family and friends. Marilyn was a lifetime member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Nashua and sang in the junior choir. Marilyn and her husband attended and headed Bible studies in the Nashua area and were actively involved with the Billy Graham Crusade. She was a member of the Joyful Notes in Nashua.
Marilyn operated a small daycare "Nana's Day Care" in Merrimack and was a member of the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. The spirit and light of Marilyn have gone on to be with her best friends and our Savior Jesus Christ. In her leisure time, she enjoyed hosting family parties, home decorating, crafts, reading, and was a collector of Christian books. Marilyn was a caregiver most of her life and loved her family and friends.
