He graduated from Bates College and Western New England College and began a teaching and coaching career In Milton. He continued his career In Longmeadow and In 1970 returned to Milton as the assistant superintendent Of schools. In 1980, he and his wife retired to Norwich, Vt., later to Hendersonville, N.C., and most recently to Yarmouthport. Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Nancy Magnussen Of Duxbury and Wendy Haskell Of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a son, Richard Haskell Of South Burlington, Vt.; and five grandchildren.
