Robert W. "Bob" Haskell, 78, of Hudson, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare in Nashua. Mr. Haskell was born April 26, 1923, in Lynn, Mass., son of the late Robert and Mary (Cook) Haskell.
He was the husband of Lorraine (Alphen) Haskell, to whom he was married for 32 years.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Haskell was employed as a refrigeration engineer at the Boston Gardens for several years. He was a member of the Veterens of Foreign Wars in Nashua. He was active in the harness racing industry in the United States and throughout Canada for most of his life. Mr. Haskell was known for his bird watching and the love of animals. He was an Air Force veteran, having served in World War II. Mr. Haskell was educated in the Lynn school system.
Besides his wife, survivors include two stepsons, James Alphen of Washington, D.C., and Christopher Alphen Sr. and his wife, Cathy, of Salem; a stepdaughter, Leslie Alphen of Salem; a brother, Russell Haskell of Vermont; two sisters, Blanche Brigham of Wenham, Mass., and Nancy Minor of Texas; a sister-in-law, Nancy Haskell of Manchester, Mass.; four step-grandchildren, Katie, Elizabeth, Heidi and Christopher Jr.; a dear friend, Norman Peter Reynolds of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
