  The Saratogian (Saratoga Springs, NY) January 12, 2009 CORINTH - Geneva R. Haskell, 76, of Hamilton Avenue, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at her home, following a long illness. Born Sept. 16, 1932 in Stony Creek, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Dora (Aldous) Chandler. Mrs. Haskell graduated from Saratoga High School in 1951 and attended Adirondack Community College. She married Harold E. Haskell on Aug. 10, 1952 in Corinth. The couple resided in Corinth for many years. He died May 9, 1994, following 42 years of marriage. Mrs. Haskell was employed as a chambermaid at the Georgian in Lake George for several years, worked at the International Paper Co. in Corinth and at Finch Pruyn Paper Co. in Glens Falls for 15 years and, finally, worked at the Saratoga Knitting Mill for a few years until her retirement. She also sold Avon products for 31 years and had a devoted following. She received a national award from the Avon company in 2006 for her dedication. She enjoyed going to bingo, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. Besides her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Ernest, Eugene, Harold and Earl Chandler; and five sisters, Eldora Chandler, Rose VanDusen, Jeannette Randall and Agnes and Norma Chandler. Survivors include two daughters, Carole R. Dickenson and her companion, Joseph Lapoint of Chicopee, Mass., and Kathy Butler and her husband, Clifford, of Corinth; one son, William H. Haskell and his wife, Barbara, of Wilton; two grandsons, William Charles Haskell of Chicago and Joshua Butler of Corinth; one granddaughter, Laura Dickenson Carpenter and her husband, Andrew, of Cirencester, England; four brothers, Preston Chandler and his wife, Suzanne of Lake Luzerne, Donald Chandler and his wife, Pearl, of Porter Corners, David Chandler of Porter Corners and Lloyd Chandler and his wife, Linda, of Rock City Falls; three sisters, Gladys Smead of Corinth, Elnora Wendell of Hudson Falls and Emma Sullivan of Glens Falls; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her companion, Jerry Coates of South Glens Falls. Private burial will be at Corinth Rural Cemetery.
