Lynn - William W. Haskell, 67, 81 Centre St., died Tuesday at his sister's home in Exeter, N.H., after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mildred (Wentworth) Haskell.
Mr. Haskell was the son of the late George W. and Ethel I. (Millar) Haskell. He had been a Lynn resident for most of his life.
Mr. Haskell graduated from Classical High. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Europe in a rifle squad of the 175th Infantry Regiment. He was captured and held for more than a year at a German prison camp, until he escaped with other American prisoners to Allied lines.
He was the owner of the Lynn Chain Link Fence Co. until his retirement two years ago. Mr. Haskell was a member of the Bethlehem Lodge of Masons and Aleppo Temple Shrine. He was a member of the E. F. Gilmore Post 64, Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of St. Stephen's Memorial Episcopal Church.
He leaves a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Kachmar, of Exeter, N.H.
Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
