  Idaho State Journal (Pocatello, ID) July 11, 2006 POCATELLO - Helen Newton Johnson passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home in Pocatello at the age of 90 on Thursday, July 6, 2006. She was born in Pocatello on Aug. 15, 1915, the first of two children of Dr. Abram and Florence Newton. Helen graduated from Pocatello High School, then attended South Idaho University. She moved to Oakland, Calif., where she attended California College of Arts and Crafts. She married Roy B. Johnson on the Newton family ranch in Inkom, Idaho, on May 28, 1937. Helen worked during World War II at the Oakland Army Base and Fort Mason. She and her family lived in Oakland and Walnut Creek, Calif., for many years before moving back to Pocatello in 1957. In Pocatello she became an active member of Wyeth chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and enjoyed the many good friends she met there. Helen lived a full life with her husband, and found joy in her painting and the peace and serenity of country living. Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Roy B. Johnson; her daughter, Sandralee Hoffman-Prior ; and three grandchildren, Scott, Dan and Kristen.
