James Gardiner Dunlap Jr., 73, Englewood, died Feb. 28, 2004, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Evanston, Ill., and came to Englewood in 1987 when he retired after 32 years at the St. Regis Paper Co. (now International Papers). He received a bachelor's degree in Pulp and Paper Science in 1953 from Western Michigan University and was a member of its alumni association. He spent two years in the Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Va.. He was a member of the Elks, Myakka Pines Golf Club and Venice United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; daughters Patricia Curti of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Pamela Schmidt of Fergus Falls, Minn.; brothers Frank of Branscomb, Calif., and Rick of Wasilla, Ark.; and three granddaughters.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Alameda Isles Community Center at Venice United Church of Christ. A later memorial will be in Rhinelander, Wis. Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Englewood, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Sentry Foundation of Sarasota Memorial Heart Research, 1700 S.
