Jean Marie Mossburg, 96, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at The Hearth at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne.
Born Dec. 6, 1919 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Miller) Walker. Jean was a lifetime Whitley County resident. She attended local schools and graduated from Coesse High School with the Class of 1937.
On May 6, 1939, Jean married Paul J. Mossburg in Coesse. Jean was a homemaker and also worked at LML Manufacturing for 13 years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers, reading, crossword puzzles, wintering in Florida, camping and fishing.
Survivors include her son, Steven (Shirley) Mossburg, of Columbia City; daughters, Judy (Walter) Altimus and Kathie (Bruce) Lash, both of Columbia City; sister, Phyllis Bear, of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Walker, of Columbia City; and cousin, Lola Ford, of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Mossburg; sister, Lois Smith; and brother, Jerry Walker.
