  The Post & Mail (Columbia City, IN) May 18, 2017 Phyllis Ilene Bear, 96, of Columbia City, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne. Born Feb. 23, 1921 in Coesse, she was the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Miller) Walker. A graduate from Coesse High School with the Class of 1938, Phyllis worked at Woolen Mills and during WWII, she worked at G.E. She lived her entire lifetime in Coesse except for five years in Allen County following her marriage to Edwin J. Bear July 31, 1946. She was a member of Coesse United Methodist Church and the Women's WSCS group of the church. Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Sharon) Bear, of Columbia City, and James (Debra) Bear, of Columbia City; grandchildren, Chris (Katherine) Bear, Jared (Sedina) Bear, Erin (Todd) Cook, and Elizabeth (Jason) Fryback; and great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Makenna Cook, Lillian and Zachary Bear. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jerry Walker; and sisters, Jean Mossburg and Lois Smith.
