Richard T. Haskell, 77, a Beverly native, died November 18, 2004, in Rancho Miraga, Calif., of congestive heart failure. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Dyer) Haskell, who died unexpectedly October 30 this year.
Mr. Haskell was the son of the late Richard T. Haskell and Myrtle (Parkinson) Haskell.
He was a 1945 graduate of Beverly High School and a locally known trumpet player. He enlisted in the Navy and was a radioman first class, serving on destroyer escorts in the South Pacific. He later re-enlisted for service in Trinidad, British West Indies.
In 1965, Mr. Haskell and his family moved to Westborough. He had been a warehouse and construction site manager, who had worked for several firms in Massachusetts, before being employed by Fluor, Inc. to work in Saudi Arabia and Egypt for seven years. Returning from overseas, Mr. Haskell had lived and worked in Florida and California.
He is survived by: his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey R. and Mary Frances Haskell, of Catonsville, Md. and their three children, Caitlin, Brian and Michael.
Jason Haskell and Melissa Miller, of Virginia, are children of his late son, Michael S. Haskell, a U.S. Marine captain, who was killed in the October 1983 Beirut bombings.
Mr. Haskell is also survived by: his sister, Shirley Haskell Swanson of Danvers; his first wife, Marion Robertson Haskell of Danvers; four nieces; and one nephew.
His brother, David E. Haskell, died in 2000.
