July 24, 1914 - Aug. 6, 2013
Albert Hascal, a longtime resident of Everett, passed away in Plano, TX at the age of 99. Al was born in Toledo, OH on July 24, 1914, one of eleven children. He ventured off to see the world at the age of 15. His travels took him eventually to Anacortes, WA where he graduated from High School. While living in Anacortes Al met, fell in love with, and married, the love of his life, Donna (Hovik) Hascal. Prior to Donna's death, Al and Donna celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage.
Al is survived by his daughter, Marilyn and her husband, Sig Thorlakson of Allen, TX; his son, Jim and wife, Pam Hascal of Plano TX; five lovely granddaughters and a grandson; three lovely great granddaughters and two great grandsons.
Al, at 98 and still an adventurous soul, decided he wanted to live out his life near his children, most of his grandchildren and great grandchildren so he packed his bags and moved to Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Al loved and was loved by his family until the end.
Al chose accounting as his profession, first working for numerous companies in the accounting field, then serving as an auditor for the IRS, then sitting for and passing the certified public accounting (CPA) exam. Al eventually started his own CPA firm in Everett, took in Fred Sjoholm and the company still thrives in Everett today. During his many years in Everett, Al was active in many civic and service organizations. Al had another love besides his family, friends and business associates, the majestic Northern Cascade Mountains. He loved their beauty, their tranquility, and their challenge. Al has conquered his last and highest peak – It is now time for him to lie down and rest.
