WADESBORO -- Mr. Charles Peeples Haskell, 66, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 in Anson Community Hospital.
He was born in Scotland County, June 4, 1936, a son of the late Norman Rouse and Emma Butler Haskell.
Charlie received his Master of Science Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where he met his wife, Betsy. He worked as director of Anson County Social Services prior to his retirement. Following declining health, little things in life like watching birds and the power of the wind and sun took on new dimensions. He enjoyed college football, basketball, attending auctions and flea markets.
Charles was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Wadesboro and was also very active in community events, especially those of the Anson Writer's Club and their production of Sneedsborough; A Ripple in the River.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Watts Haskell of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lesa Haskell of Ft. Worth, TX; his grandson, Charles Reese Haskell of Ft. Worth, TX; and his brother, George Haskell of Charlotte.
