Clarence J. “Bill” Rogers, of Holly Springs formerly of Albemarle, passed away Sunday October 12, 2014 in HeartFields Assisted Living Cary, NC.
Born June 9, 1921 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late Claude Lester Rogers and Carrie Bell Burleson Rogers.
He was a graduate of Albemarle High School and retired from the Wiscassett Mills Co. Mr. Rogers was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Albemarle where he attended the Saints Sunday School class and was a former Deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Albemarle Optimist Club where he served as the 1982 Optimist of the Year. Mr. Rogers worked with Habitat for Humanity in Stanly County and a mission team, Builders for Christ in Burlington. He was a member of the Silver Tone Choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rosetta Haskell Rogers.
Survivors include daughter June R. Womble of Holly Springs, son Charles H. Rogers of SC, brother Grover H. Rogers of Albemarle, grandchildren Meredith Fox of Chapel Hill, Moriah Womble of Holly Springs, Brittany Rogers of SC, Matthew Womble of Apex, CJ Rogers of SC, and Elijah Rogers of SC, great-grandchildren Garrison Womble of Apex and Kinley Rogers of SC.
