  New Hampshire Sunday News (Manchester) February 16, 1997 PORTSMOUTH - E. Shirley Beatty, 72, of 21 Elwyn Ave., died Feb. 14, 1997, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of William E. and Florence M. (Haskell) Beatty. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1943. She was manager of the Hobbs Insurance Agency for fifty years and held her agent and broker's license. She was awarded a plaque for forty years of outstanding service in September, 1983 by the Hobbs Insurance Agency. She had also worked at Peavy's Hardware in Portsmouth for nine years. She was a member of the Rivermouth Chapter #54, Order of Eastern Star, receiving her 50-year certificate of membership and pin in August, 1994. She was also a member of the Women's City Club of Portsmouth. Family members include a sister, Arlene F. Beatty of Portsmouth; two brothers, William E. Beatty Jr. of West Yarmouth, Mass., and Charles W. Beatty of Greenland; a nephew and a niece.
