Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Scarborough) Sidmore, 84, a lifelong resident of Melrose, died September 29, 2006, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, following a period of declining health.
She was born in Melrose, February 17, 1922, daughter of William I. Scarborough and Alice (Babcock) Scarborough.
Mrs. Sidmore was a retired nursery school teacher. She graduated from Melrose High School and was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school secretary for several years.
She was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Stuart F. "Sid" Sidmore; loving mother of Richard A. Sidmore, husband of Brenda, of Melrose and the late Stuart F. Sidmore Jr., husband of Janet, of New London, N.H.; sister of the late William I. Scarborough Jr.; grandmother of Suzanne Walters, Steven Sidmore, Rick Sidmore, Christopher Sidmore, Jeffrey Sidmore and Daniel Sidmore; and great-grandmother of nine.
Her funeral service was held October 3 form the Robinson Funeral Home of Melrose. Interment was in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Chime Time Children’s Center, c/o the First Baptist Church, 561 Main St., Melrose, MA 02176.
