Clara May Hoover, 91, of Fort Morgan died Thursday at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan.
Mrs. Hoover was born Jan. 25, 1911, in Fort Collins to Lloyd and Velma Tanner.
She and her family moved to the Weldon Valley area when she was 3 years old, where she grew up and graduated from Weldon High School. She attended nursing training in Greeley.
She married Harold Hoover Jan. 25, 1936, in Fort Morgan. They farmed in and around the Weldon Valley for a number of years, moving to Fort Morgan in 1968 where she worked for the Morgan County Social Services Department until she retired in 1983.
Mrs. Hoover was an active member of the Weldon Valley Presbyterian Church and a friend of the United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan. She served on the church board and as a Sunday school teacher, was active in the women's organizations, was a charter member of the G.L.A.D. Club, the Calico Club and helped with the 4-H groups.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Hoover and Robert Mitchell, both of Greeley; one sister, Frances Saylor of Fort Morgan; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, William; two brothers; one sister and her parents.
