| Notes |
- Husband of Sarah E. (Oldfield) Haskell, married on August 24, 1858 in Yates County, New York. The couple had three children: William (c. 1863), Freddie (c. 1867) and Lida Katherine "Kittie" (c. 1873). Their son Freddie died in Yates County on Jan. 23, 1877.
After their marriage, William sold dry goods (may have owned a store) in Elmira, New York, but later became an Oil Agent. The family divided their time between Dundee, Yates County, and Detroit, Michigan, maintaining residences in both locations.
According to the Yates County Vital Research card file, he died in Detroit, Michigan on January 7, 1874, a victim of homicide. The Detroit death records tell a slightly different story, indicating he died April 8, 1874, of drowning. There was a coroner's inquest, but I haven't located records that included the result.
After William's death, Sarah remarried twice: first to John Manneer or Manierre in Yates County (marriage appears to have ended in divorce), and later to Jacob Sheets. She died in 1912 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Franklin County, Ohio.
