Surrounded by her loving family, Irene Haskell, 88, formerly of Hawleyton, NY, passed away on Monday, July 18, after a short illness.
Irene was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Robert (Bill), in 2014; parents, William M. (John) and Margaret B. Aton; sister, Caroline Aton; and brothers, Robert, Allison, Roger, William and Ronald Aton.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol and Stephen Stankevich, Binghamton; granddaughter, Kellie Duff, Endicott; grandsons, William & Kristen Duff, Apalachin; Robert Stankevich, Newport, Rhode Island, Richard Stankevich, Binghamton, and Brett & Chelsea Stankevich, Vestal; seven great granddaughters, Jessica and Mallory Duff, Morgan Irene (her namesake) , Madison, Maggie, Maya, and Emme Stankevich, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Irene was born on March 2, 1928 in Endicott, NY. She married in 1947 and took up residence in Hawleyton, NY where she lived for over 70 years. She was a member of the Hawleyton United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau. In earlier years, she was an avid crocheter and was an employee of Fowler, Dick & Walker and W.T. Grant for several years. More recently she spent hours working her crosswords and spoiling four precious family dogs, Maxie, Tegan, Nikki, and especially, as she would say, "my dog" Kaci. T
