  The Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT) February 18, 1999 Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather and friend passed away February 17, 1999 at a local care center. He was born January 20, 1911 at Salem, Utah, the son of Alex and Eleanor Irene Pierce Killian. He attended grade school and junior high school in Salem, Utah and attended senior high school & seminary in Spanish Fork, Utah. Married Elva Orlean Cloward on Feb. 1, 1929. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple on Feb. 25, 1937. They made their home in Salem, Utah and after marrying Glen went to work for his uncle, The Floyd S. Whiting Construction Company. He learned to operate every type of road machinery used in road construction and also to repair most of them. First he became foreman and road supervisor of highways and freeways at which he worked for 40 years. When his uncle retired he worked for many of the major construction companies: W.W. Clyde, Gibbons & Reed, Cornell Mendenhall, Lowdermilk Const., and Industrial Construction. He was a member of the LDS church and taught the Aaronic Priesthood class for seven consecutive years, also taught the young adults in Sr. Sunday School and was also a Home Teacher. He served in the Salem City Council for 3 years and was in charge of road building and upkeep. After living in Salem for 62 years, the Killians moved to Salt Lake City in March of 1971 and became members of the Butler 7th ward, Butler West Stake and Glen served as secretary of the High Priest Group and a faithful Home Teacher. Glen and Elva had the special blessing of celebrating their seventieth wedding anniversary and are the proud parents of four children - Rowena K. Neeley (Parley), Myrna K. Chapple, Dr. Kenneth G. Killian (Donna), a daughter Marie Killian preceded him in death. Glen was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, ane three great, great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters - Zola Carlson, Beatrice Lonas, Hazel Petersen, and Marjorie Peterson.
