William E. Haskell, 91, of Springfield, founder of William E. Haskell Inc., manufacturers of playground equipment, died Monday in an Agawam nursing home. He was the inverntor and patent holder of "Climb-A-Round."
Born in Phaladelphia, he lived here more than 60 years. He attended Exeter Academy, Exeter, N. H. During World War II, he served on the War Production Board here. He was a member of South Congregational Church, Springfield Rotary Club, Longmeadow Country Club, the Blandford Club, and was voted "Mr. Longmeadow" of 1975. He wa an avid fisherman and sportsman.
He leaves three daughters, Susan Lefferts of Agawam, Mrs. Harry C. Bush of Blanford and Joanne H. Ball of Westhampton; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
