Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend Dale Elmer was called home on Dec. 1st, 2010. He was 86 years old and lived a full and independent life.
Dale was born Dec. 31, 1923 in Payson to Melvin Leon and Jennie Leona Haskell Elmer. His first love was his sweetheart and wife, Ruth Thatcher. They were married on Sept. 24, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Dad graduated from Payson High School in 1942. He went into the United States Air force 1944-1946 serving in the Philippines' and Okinawa. In Dec. 1946 he started to work for U.S. Steel. He retired after 39 years. Dale loved attending the temple and serving in his church callings. Dad liked hunting, fishing, bowling, sports and family vacations. For many years his garden, yard and flowers kept him happily busy creating beauty for all to enjoy.
Dale and Ruth are the parents of 3 children, Dianne Elmer, St. George, UT, Connie Olsen (David) Payson, UT, Brad Elmer (Kim) Evanston, WY. They have 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Keith (Ruth) Elmer, Colorado and Sheldon (Polly) Elmer of Fillmore. They have been married for 63 years. The joy of his life was his family.
