  The Montrose Daily Press (CO) October 1, 2015 Keith H. Elmer, 89, of Montrose, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2015. Keith was born Sept. 26, 1926, to Melvin and Jennie (Haskell) Elmer in Payson, Utah. On Feb. 5, 1949, after graduating from high school, he enlisted to serve in the U.S. Army. Keith married the love of his life Ruth Stoller in Brigham City, Utah. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before Ruth's passing on June 4, 2012. They lived in several places in the Western United States before settling in Montrose to enjoy their retirement. Keith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Spring Creek Ward. He competitively enjoyed many activities with his friends including golf, bridge, bowling, hunting and fishing. Keith was an avid member of the Black Canyon Golf Club and a Montrose Bowling League. He enjoyed volunteering for the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Veterans Administration. Keith is survived by his six children and their families; Keith B. Elmer, wife Miwa, of San Diego, Calif.; Randy M. Elmer, wife Linda, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Melissa R. Franklin, husband Jerry, of Corrales, N.M.; Melanie A. Jones, husband Dick; Eric J. Elmer of Canon City, Colo.; Douglas J. Elmer, wife Ann of West Jordan, Utah; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Keith is preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Jennie Elmer, and his loving wife Ruth Elmer.
