Ruth S. Elmer, 83, of Montrose, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012, at her home. Ruth was born Oct. 19, 1928, to John Frederick William and Madge Johnson (Lane) Stoller in Leola, S.D. She graduated from Brigham City High School in Brigham City, Utah. Ruth went on to Henager Business College in Salt Lake City. She married Keith H Elmer on February 5, 1949, in Brigham City, Utah, and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Ruth and Keith have resided in Salt Lake City, Kearns, Sandy, and La Sal, Utah; Littleton, Colo., Cuba and Albuquerque, N.M., Dallas, and Golden, Colo., before moving to Montrose, where they made their home until her time of death. Ruth and Keith are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Montrose.
Surviving family members include her husband, Keith of the family home in Montrose; sons Keith B. Elmer of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Randall Elmer of Colorado Springs, Colo., Eric Elmer of Canon City, Colo., Douglas Elmer of West Jordan, Utah; daughters Melissa Franklin of Corrales, N.M., Melanie Jones of Salt Lake City; and sister, Nancy Janes Bales of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Jean Hess and Elda Jorgensen.
