Forest was born August 22, 1924 to the late Nathan Ray and L. Velma Shumway of Batavia, Michigan. Forest is survived by his wife of 62 years, Erma, and their nine children, David (Zaida) of Puerto Rico, Velma (Dan) Krumm of North Carolina, Merle (Amy) of Indiana, Melanie (Jim) Hall of Michigan, Gilbert (Denise) of Ohio, June Morehart of North Carolina, Christina (Lloyd) Henry of North Carolina, Paul (Gabriela) of Texas, and Carol (Dan) McCarty of Indiana. Forrest leaves 21 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. His brother Glenn (Jean) of Maryland also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
