WEEKS MILLS - Randall A. French, 59, of Weeks Mills, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family. Randy was born on June 16, 1956, in Waterville to Vivan A and Vernie E (Haskell) French. He grew up in Weeks Mills and enjoyed spending summers in Palermo with his Aunt Ginny and Uncle Sherwin Wellman. He worked in the woods starting at a young age and also followed in the family line of truck-driving.
Randy married the love of his life Penelope J (Vieta) French on July 31, 1976. They had two daughters Tracy Lee and Randi Lyn.
He joined the Army in August 1981 and served until August 1986. Randy was a lance missile crew member in the Field Artillery C Battery 6/33rd Ft. Sill, OK, and A Battery 3/79th Field Artillery Giessen Germany.
After returning home from the Army he enjoyed many over the road adventures with his brothers and truck-driving friends. His favorite activities were hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. "Cheerful in all weathers and never shirked a task."
Randy is survived by his wife Penelope; two daughters, Tracy Swift and husband Jeremy and Randi Goodwin and her husband James A; five grandchildren, Katherine, Hellena and Cecelia Swift; James R and Elijah Goodwin; his parents Vivan and Vernie French; and five siblings Amy, Larry, Roy, Keith and Steven and their spouses; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
