Jacob 'Jack' Haskell, 82 of Nutley, passed away in his home on Sunday, July 8, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Hartford, Ct., he moved his family to New Jersey and purchased the Nutley Sweet Shoppe in 1964. He renamed it 'Jack's' Nutley Sweet Shoppe where it became a gathering place for many Nutley residents young and old. He worked in the business he loved for 43 years until it sale in 2007. After the sale of the store, with the help of his friends, he continued to run his monthly bus trips to Atlantic City.
He was the husband of the late Bernice (1993); father of Robin Levine and Lisa Haskell, sons-in-law Scott Levine and Robert Toronto, and grandfather of Cassandra Levine. He was predeceased by brothers David and Saul Rosner, and sister Sara Pilver. He was the brother of Louise Langlieb, Florence Filkoff, Roberta Cain, and Helene VanDeWege. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his caregiver Diane.
A chapel and entombment service was held on Tuesday, July 10 at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah in Paramus, see jewishmemorialchapel.org.
