LAWTON, Okla. - Graveside service for SFC (Retired) Darwyn Haskell Sr., 76, Lawton, will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.
Sgt. Haskell died Monday in a local hospital.
Darwyn was born July 29, 1935, in Bentonville, Ark., to William Eugene and Beulah (Petry) Haskell. After graduating high school, he joined the Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, two Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal Fifth Award and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Service Stars.
He married Pebble Dodd on May 18, 1957, in Rogers, Ark. After his military retirement, he was employed at the Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center from 1979 until 1989.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Darwyn Haskell Jr., Lawton, and Cyrus Haskell and his wife, Ellen, Denton, Texas; two grandchildren, Madeline Haskell and Finley Haskell; two sisters, Veleda Steinle, Colby, Kan., and Aloha Self, Rogers, Ark.; and a brother, Delwyn Haskell, Dunnellon, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill Haskell.
