  The Record (Troy, NY) July 30, 2009 TROY - Marcelline 'Marcie' Carnival Haskell, 80, of Troy, passed into eternal life on Friday morning, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Marcie was born and schooled in the Province of Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Frank (Carnevale) Carnival and Mary Rose Mayhew. She worked as a welder for the Steel Equipment to support the war effort during World War II. She was one who established the first union during her employment and she served as shop steward. On May 18, 1946, she married Ralph Haskell, the soldierboy she had met during basic training and moved to the Eastern Township in the Province of Quebec, Canada. She was a member of the Ladies Card Club and worked on political campaigns with her father-in-law Lloyed Haskell. She and her two children moved to Troy in 1953 to join her husband. While a resident of Troy, she worked at the Nightingale Nursing Home, the Leonard Hospital, Williams Press and W.T. LaRose & Associates. She was compassionate and conscientious in her endeavors and had a keen interest in government and union business for the people. During her employment at W.T. LaRose & Associates she held the office of president of the Thermall Association and also the office of president of Local 8247, CIO AFL and CLC. In June 1995, she reserved a room at the Best Western in Troy at her expense to inform Troy residents of the true facts about the Municipal Assistance Corporation, known as the MAC. In 1996, she became a member and founder of Trojans for Troy and was joined by 400 citizens who marched to City Hall to Protest 21 per cent tax increase. Left to mourn are her husband Ralph; daughter Dallas (Scott) Scmiedeshoff of Troy and her son Guy Haskell of Washington County; six grandchildren, Christina Hendee of Schenectady, Michael Vigilone of Troy, Erich (Kelly) Haskell Georgia of Camdon, SC, Candace, Christopher and Jamie Haskell of Washington County; three great-grandchildren, Richard III and Joshua Hendee of Schenectady and Lauren Madison Haskell of Evans, GA. Marcie is also survived by her siblings Isabel Gutoskie of North Bay, Ontario, Irene St. Pierre, Frances (Howard) Doelle and Parnell (Joan) Carnival and sister-in-law Mabel Carnival Pembroke of Ontario, Canada. She was predeceased by her brother Vincent Carnival.
