Anne Irwin Haskell Casady, who will be remembered for her warmth and generosity to her four children, has passed away after surviving a severe brain injury over 11 years ago. Her sad yet courageous battle with the ensuing complications has finally ended.
Anne was born November 22, l927 in Chicago. She is the granddaughter of Alfred Henry and Anna Rew Gross of Evanston. Her parents were George Starkweather Haskell and Freda Rew Gross Haskell.
Anne attended Roycemore School in Evanston, and Mary C. Wheeler School in Providence, RI. Anne was a debutante on the Chicago and Evanston social scene, and attended Northwestern University where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She also spent two years studying at the Toby Coburn Fashion Institute in New York City.
Anne married Allen Worthington Casady in 1950 and raised their four children in Clarendon Hills, IL. In 1979, Anne moved to Palo Alto, CA, to be near her sister, Joan Haskell Naber. She worked for a group of investment bankers. In 1994, retired, she moved back to the Chicago area, this time to Arlington Heights to be near her son, Peter, and his four children. In 1997, just before Thanksgiving, Anne was hit by an automobile while crossing the street with her daughter Cindy at OHare airport and suffered a severe brain injury. She miraculously recovered and courageously fought until June 21, 2009.
She is survived by her sister, Joan Haskell Naber; and her four children: Christine, Cynthia, Tom, and Peter; and seven grandchildren.
