  Rutland Herald (VT) May 3, 2011 ROCHESTER - Jean A. Rhoades, 89, died May 2, 2011, at her home. She was born April 20, 1922, in Rutland, Vt., the daughter of Eugene and Nellie (Holden) Stoodley. She married William F. Rhoades July 8, 1949, in Rutland. He died in 2005. Mrs. Rhoades worked at the Woolworth's lunch counter in Rutland, then in the Rutland Hospital dietary department. She provided childcare in her home for many years. She was a member of Rochester Federated Church where she once taught Sunday school.She enjoyed reading, cooking, canning and traveling. Survivors include a son, Dennis Rhoades of Rochester; a daughter, Susan Curtis of Bethel; a sister, Audrey Garrow of East Wallingford; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Rhoades was predeceased by two brothers, Urban and Raymond Stoodley, and four sisters, Edith Lewis, Rosella Brown, Grace Blanchard and Ida Holden Varnum.
